Legend has it that a few centuries ago, Shri Mata Sheetla Devi appeared in dream to Chaudhary Singh Ram of village Gurugram and inspired him to build a temple for her. He did the same and came to be famous as “Singha Bhagat”. Devotees also visit the ‘Choganan Mata’ alias ‘Chhoti Mata’ who is believed to be the younger sister of Sheetla Mata. The temple of Choganan Mata is situated at a distance of about one kilometre from the main gate of the Sheetla Mata Mandir. Devotees also visit village Mubarikpur, Tigaon and Tighra for Devi Darshan. Popular belief has it that a pilgrimage to Mata Sheetla Devi temple is not complete without a visit to any one or more of these temples.
